FFF - Barney's Warehouse sale, ASOS 15% off and a healthy dose ofculture

Happy Fun, Free Friday lovelies!

Online Discounts
For the first time ever, get a peek into the Barney's Warehouse sale!  I'm definitely going to see if there are any cute flats (and this is so much better than digging through the piles at the brick and mortar sale!)

I've been thinking about getting a bright colored cross body (red, yellow, or blue please!) for a while now.  I'm on the fence about Cambridge Satchel purses (hmm do I love the shape?) but the color is definitely pretty, like a bright blue sky!

If you are tempted by this bag or anything else at ASOS, get 15% off until Saturday with code 321GO. I need to check out dresses too!

Save!
- Go to Ebates first and get cashback off your entire purchase!  Here is my invite if you'd like it.

Otherwise this weekend...
...I am going to try to get to an exhibit or two.  I have been meaning to get to the museums and I really haven't had the chance to do that.  As much as I complain about the lack of museums, I should at least also really explore them.  I'll let you know how my quest for culture goes!

What are you doing this weekend?

Have a fabulous weekend!

Hot under {$100-under $25}/Sale Spotlight - Stripes for summer via Old Navy

Count me in as another lady that has fallen head over heels with stripes.

It's funny because I had all of two striped items in my closet up until June.  Then I went to NYC and Altuzurra for J. Crew and Uniqlo held me ransom in their dressing rooms and forced me to admit that stripes are awesome (ok they are fun).  There is just something about this simple design that adds a dash of playful chic to one's outfit.

When I think of playful chic, I don't necessarily think of Old Navy - I don't shop there much at all.  But my friend was wearing such cute tops when we vacationed together in India (she says she loves to stock up on Old Navy pieces for vacation) I also shopped at the Gap for the first time in years last month and have now secured one of the best and affordable exercise pants ever (who knew!)  So I am most definitely willing to step inside its sister store and look at its selection.  Old Navy is affordable and offers tons of options so why not right?

It is a great time to pick out a summer dress or two (striped of course!) because you get 30% off everything until  July 26 with code July2012.
1. Button tied shirt dress, Old Navy, $19.60
2. Drawstring v-neck jersey dress, Old Navy, $10.50
3. Drawstring tube jersey maxi dress, Old Navy, $22.40
4. Flared jersey dress, Old Navy, $17.43

FFF - Gap and West Elm Weekend Discounts and Returning to the cold via Melbourne

Happy Fun, Free Friday lovelies!

Online Discounts
Summer (although it is summer most of the year where I am!) signals a more casual, laid back time of year.  It is a time for cookouts and dining al fresco.  I also start to pair my t-shirts with skirts a bit more now for that casual chic look.  I've been looking to add a few more basic shirts to my wardrobe (a perfect white t-shirt is a wardrobe must!) and have been looking for some cute plates for entertaining (how perfect are the schooner plates below?!)

Good 'ol Gap had some great t-shirts when I was in the store a few weeks ago ranging from jersey fabrics to super soft washed cottons.  Here is a great option and get 25% off Friday and 20% off Saturday with code GAPBOOM.
Mason crew t-shirt, Gap, $11.24-$17.21 (from $22.95 - depends on the color)

West Elm has a range of beautiful patterns for decor, dinnerware, and the bedroom.  I'm eyeing a new duvet set as well as smaller, casual plates for a casual cookout.  These plates are a good start and are an extra 15% off with code SUMMER15 through July 10.
Schooner Melamine plates, West Elm, $1.69 (from $4.50)

Otherwise this weekend I am...
...flying to Melbourne!  This will be my first time in Australia and it is unfortunate that I am visiting during the winter.  Seriously I don't remember what cold weather is like anymore and am not sure I'm even prepared (ok I do have one coat here so I guess I should be ok). But I am very excited to be traveling down under (for work so this will be the first of many times!)  Have you been to Melbourne?  Where should I eat and shop (always the first priorities for any new city!)

Have a fabulous weekend!

Hot under $100 (all under $50!)/Sale Spotlight: Linea Pelle Casual Cool belts

I was a late bloomer when it comes to using belts (or at least using them well).  One of my besties uses belts beautifully in her outfits - she can add a modern belt to an almost vintage blouse and really create a  chic and unique look.  I may have discovered Linea Pelle through browsing through some fashion magazines, but I continue to love their belts not because they are celebrity endorsed, but because they are well constructed, functional, and lovely.  I have worn a favorite Linea Pelle belt with a simple LBD (great look for weddings!) as well as a favorite long tunic.  A belt seems to really tie (literally!) an outfit together and gives you a wonderful hourglass shape.

What kind of belts do you like?

Here are a few favorites from the current sale:
Skived edge hip belt with braided keeper, Linea Pelle, $43.50 (from $145)
Skinny hip belt with chevron keepers, Linea Pelle, $31.50 (from $105)
Vintage sliced waist stretch belt, Linea Pelle, $40.50 (from $135)
Hourglass waist belt, , Linea Pelle, $43.50 (from $145)

FFF - Bare Escentuals 20% off Friends & Family Sale and NYC visits

Happy Fun, Free Friday lovelies!

Online Discounts
Do you use mineral foundation?  Well I do and my go to mineral powder foundation is Bare Minerals from Bare Escentuals (I really need to write a review about them considering how much I've mentioned them and use them!)  Well if you've wanted to try a lightweight powder that you can wear all day, consider trying Bare Minerals original or matte formula foundation.  Now is an especially good time to try it because everything on their site is 20% off all weekend with code sharelove.  Who doesn't like sharing the love right?

Save!
- Go to Big Crumbs first and get cash back your entire purchase!  Here is my invite if you would like it!

Otherwise this weekend I am...
...back to NYC and off to a wedding!  My travel schedule has been crazy lately but I knew I wanted to come back and attend one of my best friend's weddings.  What isn't there to love about celebrating love right?  I'm just bummed that the husband is back in Asia because of a big project and can't get away from work.  I guess I'll have to console myself with shopping (NYC ladies, Saturday is the last day for the DVF sample sale at 260 5th Ave!) and cleaning.  The shrine that is my room at my parent's house really needs to be cleaned out and I'm in the process of packing things off for charity/giving away to family/selling off.  Ahh it feels good to purge!

Hot under {$100}/Sale spotlight: Thinking pink at Banana Republic

Banana Republic used to be the only store for me.

I religiously shopped there college and post college for both my office and weekend wear. A few of my favorite pieces were a lace trimmed button down shirt, a soft basic LBDS, and a crushed velvet top with a lace trim (you see the lace obsession started a while ago then!) Banana would consistently have a good selection of corporate basics at great prices (50% off and more was a norm and I remember having fabulous sale luck there!). I haven't shopped there as often in recent years and didn't love the quality in some of the pieces. But I have slowly been coming back and have still looked to their accessories section for chic and cheap selections.

I love these pink pieces for summer and they are on sale for an extra 30% off for a few more hours (use code 24 HOURS). I'm going to try to post sale pieces from different retailers every week - after all who doesn't love a good sale?
Enameled geo bangle, Banana Republic, $13.99
Nala lace scarf, Banana Republic, $34.99
Orchid belt, Banana Republic, $32.20

Fun Finds: Handbag Cookie Jar via Horchow and sale

It is an undisputed fact that I am a budding fashionista, lover of great design, and occasional cook.

Well my friends, the trifecta meets in this handbag cookie jar.

A zebra or leopard striped container that can store my snacks?!  Score!  I am seriously thinking about the other ways I can use this in my home.  Hmm bathroom container for random makeup? Sugar container in the kitchen?  Pen container in the office?  All simple rationalizations for a pretty fun find.
Handbag cookie jar, $17.43, Horchow

Check out the Horchow website if you have time today.  They are one of my favorite sites for luxurious furniture and decor (think French style settees, beautiful mirrors, and fun finds like this cookie jar).  This is their annual sale and everything on the site is an extra 25-30% off until 8 am CST on May 17.  Now is the time to shop for your home and gifts!  This circular manicure set would be a great small gift (hmm bridesmaids, part of a manicure set?) and I am seriously thinking of ordering the Felicie mirror and bringing it to Asia.  I'm just slightly worried about it breaking after bringing it 10,000 miles.  Hmm worth it?

Save!
- Get 13% cash back by going to Ebates first!  Here is my invite if you'd like it!

I am not affiliated with Horchow in any way.  I just love their products and sales!

FFF - Share the Love with Zoya - new accounts get a free nail polish and moving days

Happy Fun, Free Friday lovelies!

Online Discounts
You've heard me talk about Zoya before (especially during their annual free nail polish promotion!)  If you still haven't tried them and want to try a nail polish brand that is free of lots of "I don't need this on my body" chemicals like formaldehyde, now is a great time to spread the word!  Existing Zoya customers are part of the "Share the Love" program and can share products with their friends and get points for discounts.  New devotees that sign up with a shared link will automatically get a coupon for 1 free bottle of nail polish.  I love a win-win situation and it's even better when it involves fabulous color!
I've been thinking about a few new colors for my collection and these beautiful, bright shades are on the top of my list.  I especially love the blue and green shimmer of Charla!  The links below are Share the Love links so you get a free bottle of nail polish if you register with the link!

Otherwise this weekend, I am...
...moving!  Luckily we are moving from one building to another building within our complex.  But there is still lots of final cleaning and packing to be done (groan).  We get the keys for the new place this weekend and the movers are coming Sunday (as much as I'd like to pretend, I can't possibly move the couch, table and TV!) My husband is actually more excited than I am!   I'm sure the unpacking will take a while as well, but it will still be pretty fun to have more than 400 extra feet and a new room!

What are you doing this weekend?

Have a fabulous weekend!

Hot Under {$100}: Fine Portrait Art prints

Beautiful art is definitely chic, but not cheap.  We are on a constant mission to fill our home with more art and it is both a long and pricey task.  Luckily, many artists offer prints of their work for a fraction of the price of the original illustration.  Home furnishings retailers also manage to print work in very large sizes
(the difference in prices between artwork of different dimensions are significant).

I have a few fashion portrait prints already and love that an expression can be captured and interpreted through watercolors, oils, and pencils.  Also, who wouldn't want to have an icon like Jackie O sitting in her living room right?

Here are a few portrait pieces I loved all for under $100:
5. James Dean Print, CB2, $79.95

FFF - ASOS 10% off sale, BHLDN extra 40% off, and meeting new family members

Happy Fun, Free Friday lovelies!

Online Discounts
ASOS has already marked down many sale items up to 70% off the retail price; get an extra 10% off with code sale10 through Jan. 15th, 8 am GMT.  I am definitely combing through the sale section to see if I can stock up on basics.  I am definitely lacking tunics in my closet.  These pieces are so comfortable throughout the seasons and can be worn with espadrilles in warmer weather or with leggings in cooler weather.  As an aside, if a dress is pretty short, isn't it just a tunic (or at least I would only wear it with something underneath).

What do you think about this tunic/dress?

Yumi Tokyo Karolina print dress, ASOS, $57.27 after discount

There is also an extra 40% off all BHLDN sale items; just use code HAPPY2012 at checkout.  I'm kinda loving these satin and black lace Pemberley flats (which become a cool $72 after the discount.

Otherwise, this weekend I am...
...going upstate and meeting a new nephew.  I am not going to be used to the cold, but it will be nice to be in a different climate and hang out with a few little ladies.  I brought lots of pink nail polish and little gifts so it should be a fun time!

Miu Miu Glittered Curve-Heel Pump, Neiman Marcus, $295.40 after discount
Madewell

Otherwise, this weekend I am...
...eating out a lot! We are meeting a friend visiting from out of town.  She wants to try Osteria Mozza (Mario Batali can definitely cook) and a fun new brunch place.  We are of course happy to accompany her.  We are also attending a swanky bbq (yes there is such a thing) for Mr. Spend 'n Chomp's colleague.  This individual invites bbq chefs to cook skewers, burgers, and local specialities while the guests mingle and munch.  It should be fun and I am excited to sneak into their screening room.  Yes the house is ridiculous in a most awesome way.

Check your e-mails for the $20 certificate.
Note: Nordstrom Rack sent me a note and this is for existing Hautelook members.  So those of you already signed up would have received a similar link.  Sign up today to get offers in the future!

I have a much more delicate and feminine style rather than a edgy rock 'n roll one.  Linea Pelle is known for their beautiful and funkier leather goods.  I love their versatility though and their belts can be worn by both rock stars and ladies who lunch (I love the few I own and have worn them to everything from watching the Formula one race to attending a formal wedding).  Get a nice 25% off everything with code LPFF25 at their Friends & Family event ending today.
Vintage Sliced Waist Stretch Belt, Linea Pelle, $60.75 after discount.

Otherwise, this weekend I am...
...watching Kevin Spacey act in the play "Richard III".  I am so unbelievably excited because I love, love Kevin Spacey.  Two words - Usual Suspects.  I rest my case on the utter coolness of Kevin Spacey.

FFF - 40% off Ann Taylor thru Nov. 13, GILT International shipping is free, and catching up with old friends

Happy Fun, Free, Friday lovelies!

Online Discounts

Ann Taylor
Demi Moore's latest modeling gig has just solidified the fact that this isn't your momma's Ann Taylor anymore.  They have some really cute seasonal stuff (lace and sequins, not a big surprise I love this).  This sequin clutch caught my eye.  Everything is 40% off until Sunday with code FRIENDS.  I'm definitely perusing the sale section as well for some work worthy separates.
Ann Taylor Sequin clutch, Ann Taylor, $58.80 after discount

GILT Groupe
I am fortunate to have the option to shop on two continents (and I'll put it out there now - shopping in the US is pretty amazing for international brands, better than it is in Asia!). But when I'm not in the US, it can be difficult to get things delivered abroad.  Luckily, retailers are slowly developing their international shipping capabilities and GILT is the latest US based retailer to cater to its friends and customers abroad.    This queen of flash sale sites has extensive fashion, home, and city (local deals) sections.  Join now to take advantage of both US prices and free international shipping for a limited time.  I'm off to peruse housewares (true story: I've lugged large glass purchases from GILT over 9,000 miles!)  Here is my invite if you need it!
Bobbi brown classic products are on the site now and come with additional free products.  Gotta love a classic palette right?

Otherwise, this weekend I am...
...hosting a very close friend.  She is unexpectedly in town this weekend and I foresee random movies, crazy cooking (my husband is already dreaming of the results), and great girl talk.

FFF - Midi skirt/dress shopping with ASOS 15% off discount today and Unexpected days off

Happy Fun, Free Friday darlings!

Online Discounts
I keep on going back to ASOS because the selection is so vast - I love having Karen Millen and very reasonably priced designers in one place!  I feel like I've been in a weekday style rut and could use a new dress or a few separates to expand my Monday to Friday outfits.  ASOS has 15% off everything with code BONUS15 through Saturday, 12 am GMT.

I keep on going back to the midi style and this yellow midi skirt gives such a great pop of color (I'm thinking of yellow or cerise - the perfect cherry red!)

This bold midi dress comes in a great combination of colors and could definitely make its way to the office or a night out (I love to just throw on a blazer over dresses that may sometimes be too edgy for the office!)

It's here again ladies - the annual Sephora Friends & Family deal!  Click here to enter your e-mail address and instantly get a code on the screen (the code will be e-mailed to you as well but if you're cautious like me copy and paste this on your computer or e-mail somewhere immediately because my browser conveniently crashed a few minutes after I got my code).

Get ready.  Set.  Click (and remember to get your extra cashback too!)

I've been waiting to stock up on a few beauty essentials and these are a few musts on my list:

Daily Essential
My go-to mineral foundation, Bare Escentuals, in the newer matte formula.  I've heard that this coverage is better and I can't wait to try it out!

Weekend Wear
I recently saw glitter nails all over the web (on Alexa Chung, Katie).  I had to try the funky, large glitter polish myself just in time for the holidays.  The large, silver sparkles are pretty darn perfect.  I might need to get this in gold too.  Wouldn't these be perfect for any night out (and especially New Year's Eve!)
Sephora by OPI Flurry up Top Coat, Sephora, $7.60 after discount

It is the perfect time to stock up on gifts for friends and family.  I am thinking the nieces may kinda love this Tokidoki mirror.  I may also browse around for gifts for my lovely friends as well (with Sephora's selection, this may take a while).

High Street Highlight: Red Hot Felt Fedora from Charlotte Russe

I'm known around the office for my hats (though I really don't have enough chic summer ones, sigh).  As we transition into fall, I see different textured hats and bolder colors making an appearance.  This Charlotte Russe (oh the store of my college/post college days!) hat is both a beautiful shade of red and a fun fedora style.  Fedoras work well on a variety of face shapes from oval to square to round.  A fedora worn askew is just a little fun, just a little naughty, but oh so chic.

Are you a hat person?  What are you wearing for fall?

FFF - Nanette Lepore sale and getting into good restaurants

Happy Fun, Free, Friday lovelies!

Online Discounts
One of my favorite uber-feminine designers, Nanette Lepore, is on sale now!  Get 50% off a great range of summer to fall items, like this retro chic shift dress ($164 is still slightly pricey but I kinda love the style!)

Otherwise this weekend, I am...
...eating at a hidden Italian restaurant in town.  This highly recommended restaurant is small and entirely serviced by the chef (who also serves).  The food is supposed to be divine and we walked in last weekend to ask about their next availability.  They told us this Saturday was free due to a cancellation (great since they are booked every weekend in September).  It goes to show that you should always try because you never know what could happen right? Mmm now dreaming of risotto possibilities...

FFF - Bare Escentuals 20% off this weekend and jetting to Mumbai

Happy Fun, Free, Friday lovelies!

Online sales
Bare Escentuals Bare Minerals became my go-to mineral foundation ever since I used it for my wedding.  It is light, evens out your skin tone, and supposedly improves your skin over time.  I've always had the regular SPF15 foundation but have been curious about the Matte foundation (the coverage is supposed to be even better and it isn't shimmery at all).  Well I think I'm going to try it soon because everything is 20% off this weekend with coupon code LOVE (order two and shipping is free).
Otherwise, this weekend, I am...
...heading to Mumbai for a business trip.  I'll be going there several times in the next few months and it will be my first experience traveling to another country for work.  But I hope to eat good food, meet nice people, and maybe do some shopping (can you imagine the beautiful cloth I could get to make table runners?)
