Fashion Highlight: DVF and Current Elliott and a guest post about wedding planning

Everything is coming up florals!

Or at least everything is coming up florals in the new DVF and Current Elliott collaboration.  This capsule collection celebrates covetable Current Elliott denim, but re-imagines it in fresh floral prints for spring.  There are only a few staple pieces - skinny jeans, straight leg jeans, skinny skirt, shirt, shorts, and dress.  The prices range from $229 for the skinny skirt to $398 for the denim wrap dress - a little pricey, but within standard DVF prices.

Fall hat love and a guest post

Who loves hats (and especially for fall)? Me!  I love everything from berets to fedoras to cloches and have posted a few favorite ones on Skippy Says.  I didn't mention this cloche, but isn't the leopard trim adorable?  Check out the rest of my favorite hats here.

It is ridiculously hard to pick my top 3 spots in NYC (ahh how will I fit it all on my one day back in February?!)  But I chose a few favorite spots to visit and to get a snack in my guest post for Tanvi.

I'll also throw in another top spot - Peruvian food in Brooklyn at Chimu.  The seafood stews (picante de mariscos) there are sublime.  I dare you to not have seconds of the green sauce.

A moment in Time captured by Life Magazine: Guest post at Ciao Chessa

Do you remember sitting on your couch at home on a Sunday afternoon fingering through your family's magazines as a child?  My parents didn't order that many magazines, but they definitely bought a few issues of "Life" magazine for its simple and beautiful images.

"Life" is an iconic magazine that needed few words because its pictures provided such a deep and meaningful portrait of the period's life and times.  I've written a guest post at dear Ciao Chessa's blog (herself an amazing photographer) about "Life" magazine and some of my favorites pictures from its pages over the years.

Learning to Love DIY and saving money: Guest Post at a Mountain Bride

Hello my dears, I wanted to point you over to my guest post at  A Mountain Bride.

I talked about the every(wo)man's/bride's struggle to have beautiful things, save money, and create a few DIY projects along the way (particularly when it comes to wedding planning).   For my married friends and brides, you know how enamored you become with decor, details, and style.  Of course this doesn't come cheap, but there are ways to recreate some of this with a little patience, some internet tutorials, and time.
I didn't exactly become Ms. Martha, but I learned a lot about how /where to save money for projects, gained confidence in creating and designing my own DIY ideas, and retained faith that I could still end up with the item of my dreams.

You don't always have to give up on dreams of pretty.

My Wishpot Wedding/Fashion Guest post and Wedding blog funniness

I have a guest post on Wishpot's Wedding and Fashion Blogs today (so exciting, my first guest post!)
My post is about using your wedding registry to get cool things you want for the wedding itself - think makeup, birdcage veils, jewelry, ties, etc.!  This was especially relevant for us because we moved to another country and didn't want to bring too much stuff (even if we hadn't I have a TON of house stuff due to my obsession with Amazon's housewares department ). 

As I mentioned here, we really loved having a unique wedding registry that really reflected what was uniquely important to us - donations to the American Cancer Society, a man-purse for Mr. Gadget's Amazon Kindle DX, and luggage for our travels (and boy, are those babies getting mileage!)  So I'm a total advocate of a registry that allows you to select items (even from Etsy!!!) from across the web.

Also for my bride friends still wondering about whether to even have a registry, go for it, and make it fun!  We initially didn't want one either for the reasons mentioned above.  But if your friends and family are generously gifting you something, don't leave too much to their imagination - accept the fact that you will receive gifts and pick them out yourself.

I still use Wishpot to organize my online shopping lists because hey there's always something to shop for dream about and my Bookmarks menu is too full.

Bravo Bride also contacted me recently and said they listed me as one of their favorite wedding blogs.  Aww thanks!  Did they find the picture of me making a cross-eyed look at my husband during our wedding ceremony?  I am unfortunately not brave enough to post that right now.
But I will post an example of how silly faces between cousins never dies.

They seriously post some funny pictures and I love people that can laugh at themselves.
