{Fashion} Highlight: FitFlop Women's Electra toning sandal

FitFlop sandals are among my favorite sandals ever (when I asked here if they're worth it, the answer is a resounding oh yes!)  Problem - they're not known for being stylish.  While I lovingly refer to them as my comfy orthopedic sandals, I will also never give up them up.  They are the most comfortable shoes I've ever worn and the only shoes I can now wear for hours at a time (that don't aggravate my slight nerve condition).
I'm not sure if they actually tone my legs, but if they do - score!

At least FitFlop is coming up with more stylish options and I think the newest ones are slimmer as well.  Walk on (as I will in Cambodia with my pair today).

Worth it? Fit Flop muscle toning shoes

These Fit Flop Pietra sandals are the newest addition to the line and I'm pleasantly surprised because they are relatively fashion forward (especially for something that's an orthopedic/athletic slipper).   My 8-months pregnant friend was wearing them today and has found them comfortable so far.

They're sold at Amazon or Bliss for $59.99.

Fit Flop sandals and boots are basically shoes that supposedly help you tone your legs while you're wearing the shoes.  It does this with a sole "composed of three distinct densities of EVA foam that together create a slightly destabilizing effect, your muscles are engaged each time you step, increasing leg, calf and gluteal muscle activity for better tone"

Their shoes are also supposed to decrease stress the amount of stress on your lower back and feet. I can't vouch for the former benefit, but can vouch for this aspect.  I have a recent nerve pain on my right foot which has made most of my shoes (including flats!) pretty uncomfortable.  But for some reason, I can walk for hours in my Fit Flop sandals.

Do any of you own Fit Flops and what are your thoughts?
Most importantly, are they worth it?

My Birthday - passionfruit cheesecake, Yumi Kim, Fit Flop sandals and Swiss Chocolate

I almost forgot but today is my birthday!  Woot!  You know some years, there's just so much else going on that you kinda forget your own birthday.
So this past year has been a whirlwind:
  • graduated from grad school
  • entered the wonderful world of blogging
  • got married
  • moved to London
  • and soon (crossing fingers they agree to my pay proposal) starting a new project in London and getting that other job I've been lusting after
Since I didn't want to spend a ton of money and we'll be hanging out with a bunch of friends next week anyway, we went out to a small Vietnamese restaurant in Soho.  Mmm spring rolls and grilled pork.  Although our waitress wasn't Ms. Sunshine, the food was good (seriously Americans, we are spoiled by mostly good wait service).  The best part was going to one of my favorite Italian bakeries, Princi and picking this beautiful passionfruit cheesecake (more like mousse) up.  Seriously, please go if you are in London or Milan. Yep, it tastes divine.

Otherwise, pretty simple wishes for my wish list.  The Mr. and I have left our old lives, friends, and family behind so he could really pursue this degree and the job he really wants to do.  I hope we both get the jobs we want and it's a great year for our careers.

But of course I wouldn't mind some little things like these comfy boots (I NEED them since I have a weird foot pain now, please go on sale!)
Of course I've been lusting after a Yumi Kim Shelly.  Totally getting it.  On sale of course because Yumi Kim is having 30% off everything for "Pink Friday" until Nov. 30 (enter code ykpinkfriday).  Loves it!

Oh and totally going to Switzerland for a long weekend.  Living in Europe is pretty awesome.  In the time it takes to go to Chicago, I can go to another country.  I'll definitely eat some chocolate for you and take pictures!

Alternative shoes under a wedding gown and a Bliss FitFlop discount ending 26 Oct!

What shoes can you wear under THE dress?

Previously, it was thought that we should wear satin shoes with embellishments under a wedding gown.
Something like this Badgley Mischka shoe.  Still kinda cute with the over the top rhinestones - kinda love the art-deco, bling factor of that.

These days, a woman can wear what she feels like - pumps, sandals, boots, whatever!

I wore pewter strappy Judith Leiber sandals I had previously worn as a bridesmaid to a friend's wedding because they totally matched my dresses and were pretty comfy.

I really love the concept of wearing some practical (as in can wear after the wedding) or comfortable (see my picture later).

Take the lovely Dawn and her peep-toe Jimmy Choo Mary Janes - fun and functional to so many other parties!

Is it going to be rainy or do you just love your rain boots (I have the same ones from Target!)  Wear them then like Lori did!

How about cowboy boots so you can just kick up your heels and run around?  As seen here.

Or do you just want comfortable shoes?  Wear Fit Flops like I did! When we did out first look pictures and had to walk around to different spots, I had these on.  Hanako first told me about the Bliss sale on Twitter a few months ago.  I got them and LOVE them.
They're on sale again at Bliss - up to 50% off most flip flop styles.  I want boots as well, but will probably wait until there's a bigger discount. Sale ends 26 Oct.  Enter code 119908 and get free shopping if you buy over $50 .

Since buying them, I've found other friends (1 with a chronic back problem) who laud the comfort and support of these shoes.  I'll admit that they aren't the cutest flip flops out there, but they're pretty basic (so can be worn with quite a few outfits) and the shock absorption is so worth it.

I've had a pain in my right foot sometimes and find that these are the only pair of shoes that help my feet even after walking for hours.  I'm sure I look pretty funny while wearing them around South London though.

This is also one of the funniest and one of my favorite photos from our day.  I was running out of the Echo because we were starting to run late for the ceremony.
Anyhoo, happy shopping!
