Worth it? Fit Flop muscle toning shoes

These Fit Flop Pietra sandals are the newest addition to the line and I'm pleasantly surprised because they are relatively fashion forward (especially for something that's an orthopedic/athletic slipper).   My 8-months pregnant friend was wearing them today and has found them comfortable so far.

They're sold at Amazon or Bliss for $59.99.

Fit Flop sandals and boots are basically shoes that supposedly help you tone your legs while you're wearing the shoes.  It does this with a sole "composed of three distinct densities of EVA foam that together create a slightly destabilizing effect, your muscles are engaged each time you step, increasing leg, calf and gluteal muscle activity for better tone"

Their shoes are also supposed to decrease stress the amount of stress on your lower back and feet. I can't vouch for the former benefit, but can vouch for this aspect.  I have a recent nerve pain on my right foot which has made most of my shoes (including flats!) pretty uncomfortable.  But for some reason, I can walk for hours in my Fit Flop sandals.

Do any of you own Fit Flops and what are your thoughts?
Most importantly, are they worth it?

I think this is only worth it if, like in your case, you have some kind of pain or injury that it helps alleviate. But if the purpose is to tone your legs, I think you would be better off going on a bike ride, hopping on a stair master, or just taking a walk!

If these are comfortable, they are worth every penny. Especially if they stay in good shape for a couple years.

I have yet to find flip flops that are really comfortable walking long distances in. So I actually definitely need to consider buying these. Thanks for the head's up!

    I hope you're having a great weekend!

i have fit flops. they are very comfortable, but they haven't exactly transformed my body. hahahhaha! i wish! they seem kind of pricey to me, and they sure could make 'em cuter, but i am wearing them right now, so i am not REALLY complaining! LOL!

Hmm. I need to read some reviews on this. I have terrible back trouble (ruptured disc), and wonder if this would really help??

I can't wear flip flops because the thing between the toes literally drives me insane. However, the thought of these toning your legs is amazing!! :)

I've been wearing fitflop sandals for a few summers now. They haven't toned a damn thing, but they're very comfortable, so I'm still happy with my fitflops and I'm looking forward to the new converse style trainer.

Oh I'm really tempted to try them. I live in flip flops and sandals during the summer but I usually end up having foot pain and I often throw my back out and my chiro said that it's from flip flops. Totally going to check these out. Thx for the tip sweetie.

Oh and on no about your passports! Hope u find them soon!

I've been wanting to try these out, but i can't see myself paying so much for some flip flops! I wanna know if they're really worth it too.

I heard from one source that shoes like this don't really work out anything but your ankle, but I'd still be willing to try it. I'm a sucker for things like this.

It's nice to see that they have made an attempt at making shoes like this look much cuter though!

These sound really cool, but I do have to wonder how long the effect lasts. In a normal shoe a person's weight just compresses the sole after a while depending on how they walk (either the inner bit our the outer bit) so I'd imagine the shoe just gets broken in and stops working.

And @ Krista: Yeah, I bet the shoe stops working if I wear them while sitting on my butt!

My friend has the easytone sneakers and she says she can feel a difference...but its definitly not an immediate change and it will take awhile to see results. :)
PS-I'm having a giveaway on my blog for a cute little carafe!!!
