In My Closet: Maison Martin Margiela Funky Two-toned shoes

Funky or fashionable?

Do you (or is it just me) look at your closet and think hmm...  I bought my first pair of Maison Martin Margiela shoes online a few months ago. I knew they were edgy, possibly edgier than items I usually wear. I started second guessing myself when I received them because the patent was brighter/more gradient than I initially envisioned. But I still appreciate the almost architectural detail of the leather and the unique pseudo-mesh side. These are definitely statement shoes!  I am still struggling with what could be paired with these shoes - a classic LBD, a white dress, or a simple set of separates (let the shoes shine right?)

Either way, I still want to work these shoes into my wardrobe because sometimes it is nice to go outside the lines just a little bit.

So how do you think I can wear these shoes?

{High Street Highlight} Ann Taylor Abbey Lace Pumps

After holiday sales are dangerous (for my wallet).  But willpower and savvy shopping can be balanced right?

The lace love continues with these Ann Taylor Abbey lace pumps which I just ordered for myself and my mom (because we're the same size and any shoes I've left in NYC have been claimed by her).  I couldn't resist at $79.99 with an extra discount (last day for 40% off with code save40).


I also went through Mr. Rebates first for another 3% back.   Yep, I am definitely the savvy shopper.

While they don't have the signature, make me weak at the knees bows of these Valentino d'Orsay pumps, I'm happy to put my $800 savings towards another pair of Valentino heels.

What good deals have you gotten lately?

Worth it?/{Wedding/Spring Look}? Tiffany's Blue playful shoes

Oh the cute white scalloped trim and that lovely shade of Tiffany's blue (it comes in black with white trim as well)!  This Hey Lady shoe is supposed to be super comfortable and has invisible "wing" arch support (what is that?) and a memory foam insole.  It's not cheap at $340, but if it's that comfortable, it'd be a good investment.  The comfort factor for me would be the key selling point (of course the styling is tres important as well)

Has anyone tried this brand before?

Most importantly, is this worth it?

Prices average $230, but certain colors are on sale from Madison LA and Farfetch for $130

Oh Marc for Marc Jacobs, you never cease to amaze me with your fun collection of animal and girl power friends (a la Miss Marc).

The shoes are certainly fun, though more of a weekend fun shoe for me (if anything).  For that reason, I'd certainly wait for a sale before trying them.

Worth it? Barbie and Christian Louboutin

It seems like anything Christian Loubotin touches turns to gold.  Or at least is really expensive.

Is it worth it?  She does have a killer tiny shoe collection though I'm wondering why she's in a catsuit.

I'm kinda intrigued.  This is definitely a product that you get because it's a collectible and you're likely not a 10 year-old that will cut Barnie's hair (it seems so much easier because there's so little of it!) or ruin her.

What shoes can you wear under THE dress?

Previously, it was thought that we should wear satin shoes with embellishments under a wedding gown.
Something like this Badgley Mischka shoe.  Still kinda cute with the over the top rhinestones - kinda love the art-deco, bling factor of that.

These days, a woman can wear what she feels like - pumps, sandals, boots, whatever!

I wore pewter strappy Judith Leiber sandals I had previously worn as a bridesmaid to a friend's wedding because they totally matched my dresses and were pretty comfy.

I really love the concept of wearing some practical (as in can wear after the wedding) or comfortable (see my picture later).

Take the lovely Dawn and her peep-toe Jimmy Choo Mary Janes - fun and functional to so many other parties!

Is it going to be rainy or do you just love your rain boots (I have the same ones from Target!)  Wear them then like Lori did!

 

 How about cowboy boots so you can just kick up your heels and run around?  As seen here.

Since buying them, I've found other friends (1 with a chronic back problem) who laud the comfort and support of these shoes.  I'll admit that they aren't the cutest flip flops out there, but they're pretty basic (so can be worn with quite a few outfits) and the shock absorption is so worth it.

I've had a pain in my right foot sometimes and find that these are the only pair of shoes that help my feet even after walking for hours.  I'm sure I look pretty funny while wearing them around South London though.

This is also one of the funniest and one of my favorite photos from our day.  I was running out of the Echo because we were starting to run late for the ceremony.
