Fun Finds: Scratch 'n Sniff NYC Cards

There are some sites and smells so clearly associated with NYC..

• bagels and lox
• pizza by the slice
• the NYC subway

My trip back home to NYC was too short, but if I'm feeling particularly homesick, it's nice to know I'm only a scratch 'n sniff away from smells of home.

If I had known about these, I TOTALLY would have included them in our Out of Towner or favor bags for our weddings as a fun gift...pity to the person who got the summertime subway card and cheers for the person who gets the donut card.

Girlfriend Keeper iPhone App - the lazy way to communicate with your partner

I just found read about the Girlfriend App and it's hilarious.

Think of it as the romantic side you never had time to develop, but you always knew was there. First, you'll adjust a couple on-screen meters for "relationship level" (from "strangers" to "married") and "contact frequency" (from a casual once-per-month to a stalkerish every-other-hour). Then you'll feed it the basics about her (email address, phone number, birthday) along with some not-so-basics like eye color and your anniversary. (Note: if you're using this, you might want to double-check and confirm both of those.)

And then—and this is the beauty part—you do nothing. Yes, absolutely nothing as it begins dropping your beloved regular personalized email messages ("Scarlett, I will love you until my heart stops beating") and text messages ("Your birthday is in 54 days, perhaps I will get you something blue to match your eyes"), all signed with your name. (We've sent them a firm note requesting they add a "physical massage" function.) And as the app gets updated, you can add new stats like hair color (blonde), favorite food (pizza) and even pet name (Rosebud). They're also working on letting you register multiple relationships, because sometimes life gets…complicated.

I'm pretty particular about the pictures of me that can be easily viewed by the rest of the world.

Just ask Mr. Chic 'n Cheap. I make him delete pictures off Facebook or untag myself all the time.

But I don't mind silly childhood pictures. Who doesn't love the fake bookshelves/meadows/lasers in the background? I'm basically comforted by the fact that everyone looked like that and it's a testament to the era of 80s/90s silliness. Even celebrities had to endure these random backgrounds.
We've divided the slideshow into a few categories:

• Our engagement
• His/hers section consisting of the following:
  

1. baby pictures
2. childhood pictures
3. Pictures according to categories of attendees (h.s. friends, family, undergrad friends, work friends, grad school friends)

We will also have a short "skit" in between. Mr. Chic 'n Cheap excitedly explained that he ordered a Charlie Brown t-shirt and will play sad Peanuts music when we start showing my grad pictures.

Yeah, he finds himself hilarious.

Worst wedding toasts ever

I just read this list from the Knot and it is fabulously ridiculous.

Seriously, these are messed up people all around. Please don't this to me my lovely bridal party.

Two of the winning words of wisdom:
"I was a bridesmaid in a wedding where the best man gave a toast about how cheap the groom was and how they'd been friends all their lives but the wedding was the first free meal he's ever been offered by the 'cheapskate.'"

Real life is funny

Brides, office workers, gardeners, whoever - we all need to laugh sometimes.

I don't know why, but I get the Urban Daddy newspaper (basically a guy's guide to food, nightlife, etc.) and discovered Texts from last night. Hilarious.

Seriously, some people are just ridiculous. I do not claim to know any posters. Though who knows right?
