Decor Thoughts: Glass ceilings that are good for you

Women have heard about the corporate glass ceiling for years.  But it takes on a totally different feel when used as a part of your decor.  This design element would really add height, dimension, and light to a building or room.

Decor Thoughts: Covetable celebrity closets

Can your closet be too big, too small, too luxurious (if only)?

Let's peek into a few celebrity "You know you have a lot of clothing/shoes/accessories when you have converted two bedrooms for storage (ahem, like Fergie)" closets.

I'd love a French country feel with a beautiful table and covered closets like Aerin Lauder,

though Nanette Lepore's tufted seat would also be a lovely addition,

as well as fresh flowers and uber organization like Tamara Mellon (Jimmy Choo president),

my husband would love the serenity and simplicity of Brian Atwood's closet,

though ultimately my love for color and shoes a la Jenna Lyons (J. Crew Creative director) may take over!

The accessories, the racks of jeans, the shoe rooms...wow.  Though I will admit as much as I love fashion, when I have the opportunity to indulge one day, I am going to concentrate on quality vs. quantity.  That and I could use the extra room as an exercise room, screening room or something else!

Dreaming/Decor Thoughts: Murals

Why is it that you want what you can't have?  As I've mentioned before, I can't paint or do anything to my apartment's walls.                                                 

But if I had full power over my home decor,  a painted mural would be on my list of things to include.

This dining room in Paris evokes renaissance images.  What's cooler is that the family and their pets are even painted in!

The motifs on the wall and ceiling remind me of faux molding and lend such dimension to the room (they were inspired by the motifs in Istanbul's Topkapi palace - CHIC!).

These subtle palm details show that a mural doesn't have to cover an entire wall but can really accent and contribute to the feel of the room.

I love the natural feel of this room and how it is reinforced by the tree-trunk bench.  Hmm I think I could even do it myself (or get my more artistic mom or a friend to help).
