Photo Love {Inspiration}: New Year Resolution Success via Elle Fanning and Teen Vogue

Always bear in mind that your own resolution to succeed is more important than any other.
Abraham Lincoln
Magazine editorials don't usually inspire my New Year resolutions.  But it was a combination of the fresh, lovely tone of these pictures and my viewing of "Super 8" yesterday (what a lovely and innocent love story) that led me to think of the goals I want to accomplish for this year.  Most importantly, I want to aspire to be the best person I can be (by learning, changing and loving) while aiming towards a few resolutions for the new year.

1. Smile more and choose things that make me happy
Are you truly happy in every aspect of your life?  I can't say that I am, but I have been re-evaluating things that don't make me happy and trying to change or cut them out of my life.  I want to smile more in an open and honest way that truly reflects my contentment.  Life is too short and I want to constantly surround myself with people, places, and objects that really make my heart sing.

2. Keep in touch with loved ones
We have gone through some massive moves and are far away from our family.  I just found out that a good friend from college just had her second child (I didn't even know she was pregnant!)  Sometimes I am grumpy and think "Why don't they make the effort to keep in touch with me?!"  But is anyone really good about keeping in touch?  I want to know about the life changes - big and small - in my friend's and family's lives so I will definitely Skype and e-mail as much as I can.

3. Travel More
The Mr. and I certainly love to travel.  We plan on going to Rajasthan, Kerala, Mexico (wherever my friend's wedding will take place), Shanghai, Milan, Hanoi, London, Paris, LA, possibly Japan, and of course NYC in the next year.  It is pretty exhausting to think about.  But one of our favorite pastimes has been to travel and experience the world.  As much as I love to shop and talk about shopping, I end up spending more on travel.  I am blessed with the ability to perform this favorite hobby and want to continue to do it.

4. Streamline my Wardrobe
I definitely have those "I have nothing to wear!" moments.  But honestly, I have a lot of clothing and want to continue to add only apparel and accessories that make sense with my wardrobe as a whole.  That means cutting out trendy items and investing towards quality, classic pieces.  My ideal wardrobe list has helped immensely and while I still love to window shop, I try to only add pieces that I will truly love and stand the test of time (that means saving up for a Kelly with buddies Bessie and Kim).

What are your New Year Resolutions?

Have a lovely week!

She is just beautiful, huh? Love your resolutions. I stand in front of my closet daily thinking I have nothing to wear, (mainly because there has been way too many Christmas cookies consumed and no treadmill). I totally need to streamline my closet too and start buying more expensive classic pieces and just changing accessories. Great advice. xo

    I don't have any resolution!!!

I agree with the post though! :) But I don't like talking on the phone ... so keeping in touch gets hard when people are not online! :P ... You know we both are travel-junkies! :)

I haven't put together my entire set of new years resolution but one of them is to definitely save more money. Thank you for the mention, Kim is definitely on board w/our trip to Paris and is currently saving up...although she did tell Mr. Cool for her 40th b-day she wants a rolex. Hmmm will there be money left for both her birkin and rolex? She needs to make partner at her lawfirm soon! HAHA!

I love this post! But I don't like how I'm kind of jealous of Elle Fanning and she's 13!

These are great resolutions, especially the one about keeping in touch. We are all so bad at it these days - a quick email shot off without much thought has replaced a long conversation with your best friend that you used to talk to for hours on end. I want to be better at this, and to know as much as possible about my friends' lives as it's happening. Thanks for the link love - those Kellys will be ours soon enough :)

My list is pretty close to yours. I believe that we are who we are with so I want to surround myself with positive things and positive people. I also get upset when my friends don't make an effort to keep in touch but I don't want that to stop me from keeping in touch with them. :)

Wow, your travel plans are exciting! I'm super jealous.

And I know how you feel about wanting a wardrobe where you LOVE every piece and can just choose anything and never have those "I have nothing to wear!" moments.

...and that Elle. My god, this girl was born to be in front of a camera.

I have a few new ones this year.
Run a 12K( Force me get into shape)
Know my worth (not easy to do)
    Focus on the positives more
    Take time for self discovery

I love that you are streamlining your wardrobe- might need to add that one to mine.
