Photo Love: Cycling towards Summer

For him in vain the envious seasons roll,
Who bears eternal summer in his soul
- Oliver Wendell Holmes

Image from here

Here's to wishing you a summer kinda week (and attitude) - lighter times, breezy nights, and easy smiles.  We can only have winter in our souls so long so I welcome the brightness of summer and reaping the benefits of long days and great weather.  Oh to be carefree and cycling a la Ms. Hepburn - why not right?

How do you get into a summer state of mind?

Have a lovely week!

Photo Love: Holding onto your other half

The best thing to hold onto in life is each other
Audrey Hepburn

Photo from here

I love the intimate instances between a couple - the ones that are unseen and shared between them - the sweet touches and quiet moments that are theirs alone.

My husband and I are apart for the second time since we've been married. We've grown closer as we've supported each other through the tumultuous times of our multiple international moves.  We also love to share quite moments together just enjoying each other's company.  It's a bit odd to be without each other now but it's also odd to be without my close friends and family for a while too so of course I'm glad I get to see them.  Distance is never easy, but Skype makes things a lot easier.  I'm glad I get to see my husband soon and will hold on tightly.

Hold onto your loved ones and have a great week!

Photo Love: Jump with no reservations

The artist Philippe Halsman said that when you ask someone to jump for the camera "the mask falls, so the real person appears."

I love the girly and playful jump by the always lovely Audrey Hepburn above.  The lady is still there, but she is leaping without a care in the world - no poses, no thoughts about the perfect angle.

Life isn't always picture perfect, but it can still be beautiful.  Here's to celebrating those candid and true moments...

Lucky New Yorkers, there is an exhibit of famous figures jumping photographed by Philippe Halsman.  “Philippe Halsman: Jump” continues through Friday, May 28th at the Laurence Miller Gallery, 20 West 57th Street, Manhattan; , laurencemillergallery.com.
