What I'd wear...when I'm traveling

My dear blogger buddy The Professional Bridesmaid asked for "What I'd wear" while traveling (this Toronto lady has half her closet in LA so she's no stranger to cross-continent flights!).  Of course now is the perfect time.  In the next month, a lot of us will be traveling.  Whether you're visiting loved ones, taking a break, or just escaping in general, you will likely be taking a long car or plane trip to get there.  Boo to the travel and yay to the destination.

When I think about comfortable, minimally wrinkling travel outfits, I immediately thought of clothing with great materials (supima, great cottons, and other soft materials).  I ordered a few Michael Stars dresses a while ago and love the materials and reasonable prices - naturally he was the first brand that came to mind for travel outfits.

Option 1
Sometimes you just want one piece so for those that prefer a dress, how about this comfy Michael Stars supima 3/4 length dress? At only $72 - it's a pretty good deal and more importantly is made of great material.

Option 2
If it's a long flight or you get cold easily, then it's time for a top and jeans.  This top for $74 is pretty comfortable and a little sexy as well.

Of course some comfy jeans - on sale for $98 if you're small (and Revolve gives 30% off to new customers with certain exclusions, they totally rock)!  J brand wide leg in a dark wash.

With either option, definitely have a warm cardigan.  I love this versatile wrap cardigan.  At $198, I think it's worth the price but of course wait for a sale if you can (and Michael Stars has good sales).

Not able to sleep on flights?  Be like a movie star and throw on some shades like some classic aviators for $139.

Then one of my favorite accessories for both style and "I don't have a bad hair day purposes" - this cute hat, a deal at £12.00.

.

Finally you'd definitely need a pair of shoes you can slip on and off easily (sigh, until they really roll out the machines that will let you go through without taking off your shoes).

My friend told me about OTBT and how comfortable their shoes and boots were.  These Mary Janes were made for traveling and aren't bad for everyday shoes too (like many other NYC women I commuted in comfortable shoes and had my shoe collection at my desk; great price too at ).  Sorry for the small picture!

If I wanted a heel, I'd get a stacked heel so would that the shoes would actually be pretty comfortable.

Finally I got this bag, the Hayden Harnett Ibiza, from my best friend before leaving for Singapore and France last year.  I love the durability, size and versatility (it can be folded in half).  It can hold a lot too and I wasn't as afraid when setting this down on planes since it could be easily cleaned.  It's a good price at $198 and can go on sale as well.

What else is part of your travel wardrobe?

Great tips! I love that cardigan - can double as a blanket on the flight. I picked up a couple the last time I was in LA, and I live in them when I travel. Plus, they're super cute!

ooh i love the cardigan! and when i fly, i'm all about a stretchy jersey dress and tights with a very warm cardy and flats - so cozy and comfy! i also never travel without a pashmina, it's perfect for so many reasons, and you can use it as a blanket if you need a little shuteye. i'm still looking for the perfect eye mask.

I love long, draped cardigans for traveling. I rarely travel by plane, but I do plenty of road trips and my outfits are very similar to these - lots of layers and soft fabrics! The bag is just too cute too!

I always travel in a dress or skirt. I hate the way trousers bunch up around your knees when you sit for a long time.

A cardigan or wrap is a definite must though

I hate to admit that I dress for a plane as if it were going to crash :) I always wear tennis shoes so that if I end up stranded on an island (like in Lost) I've got a good pair of shoes to wear (and run) in. I wear comfy jeans and layers for tops so that I can take on and off again as I may get hot or cold often on a flight. For me, the flight is not about style but more about practicality.

I love that cardigan! Although recently I've turned into a slob when we travel, mostly because they are transatlantic flights and it takes us a day to get to our destination.

I always always wear jeans, a cardigan and a big scarf that can double as a wrap. I'm always freezing on flights, plus I generally fly from Montana to Vegas to visit family, so I can adjust to be comfortable in both places.

Great list of picks! That top is very cute. I always wear layers when travelling. Planes are always super cold or stuffy, so being able to adjust accordingly is a huge plus.
